Many photographers contributed photos of the snow to our Facebook page, CHCH EQ Photos.  With so many people at home because of the snow, there was a lot of interest in this album.  Most people were not travelling very far, so it was great to see photos from right across Christchurch.  You can view the album here.

The day after the Arab Parliamentary Library Network meeting finished we were able to take an excursion to the Bekaa Valley to visit the magnificent temple complex at Baalbek, Lebanon.  View more photos here.

Christchurch has sometimes been compared to a war torn country.  This photo does show some resemblance with the plethora of cranes dominating the skyline.  Many Beirut sites showed their history of violence in the number of bullet holes that could be seen.  While some sites were rebuilt or well on the way, others remain in a derelict state, sometimes right next door to a beautiful new building.  Earthquake damage only superficially looks like war damage.  See more photos here.
